GOODWILL MISSION

            

‘Good will Mission’ of CTE Assam Chapter visited Punjab in the first week of Oct  2009 from Oct 01, 2009 to Oct 04, 2009 .The CTE Punjab and Chandigarh Chapter had the privilege of being the  Host of the Good will Mission of CTE Assam Chapter.

 

The CTE Punjab picked up DIPS College of Education, Dhilwan, Dist. Kapurthala, as Host Institution, for the visit of Assam delegates on Oct 1, 2009. The Mission headed by Prof. Nilima Bhaghbati , President of CTE Assam Chapter from Gowhati  University, Assam along with of four male and four females DR. Dulumani Goswami, Dr. Gayatree Goswami Vice President, Dr. Jagat swargiary  , Mrs. Jonali Chetia , Dr. Asami Gogoi, Mrs. Anna Hazarika, Mr. Debeshwar Sarma, Mr . Mhendra Nath, reached the Host Institution on Oct 1, 2009 at 10.00 a.m. The Mission was accompanied by the President, CTE Punjab Chapter, Dr. Dev Raj Vij. The delegates were given a warm traditional Punjabi welcome by the students, staff, Principal and the Management.

 

A ‘Principals’ and Teacher Educators Meet’ was organized in the college with a purpose to have interaction with the delegates from Assam.  Dr. Surjit Kaur Bawa , Dean School of Education , Lovely Professional University , Phagwara was the resource person who enlightened the delegates from Assam about the existing system of teacher education in the Educational Colleges of Punjab. Dr. Bawa gave many practical suggestions for quality control in B.Ed. Colleges.

 

Prof. Nilima Bhaghbati, the President CTE Assam Chapter gave a powerpoint presentation and enlightened the gathered Educationists about the culture and teacher educational system of Assam. The educational interaction was followed by a cultural programme presented by the students of the college. The CTE Assam presented dance and songs in their own language depicting their own culture.

The special attraction of the programme was the organization of an exhibition “PUNJABI VIRSA’. Efforts were made by the institution to provide glimpses and experiences about, rich heritage, Punjabi dresses, living habits and styles of Punjabis etc.

The delegates relished the Punjabi food specially saag and Makki Ki Roti’ , Lachehedar Paranthas and Punjabi sweets.

 

Dr. D. R. Vij highlighted the significance of such teacher exchange programmes and said this visit and interaction has resulted in having sound understanding of educational and cultural environment, community expectations of both the states and thus such like Exchange Programmes are really helpful in strengthening the teacher Education as well as raising the quality of Education in the country.

       

National Seminar

During the Session a National seminar on Right To Education (RTE): Challenges and Opportunities was organized in calibration with CTE on Monday, 21 Feb 2011. Dr.Kiran Bedi, the first female IPS officer of India was the chief guest Key

Dr. Kiran Bedi, in her Key Note address emphasized that it was a challenge and collective responsibility of parents and teachers to provide quality education to all of their children.

She said that Education is imperative to stem degradation in moral values and corruption. She emphasized that education should not aim at spreading literacy alone and added, that we must remember the sacrifices made by our great heroes like Mahatma Gandhi, Vivekananda and Aurobindo Gosh our true role models. Stressing   upon the need of developing the expressional abilities in the. Students, She said that for bringing improvement in quality education, teachers : must .1 JJ update their 'knowledge and teaching skills. She asked them to be very bold, sincere and hardworking. In the interaction session, Dr. Kiran Bedi responded to burning issue in a very bold and effective manner and exhorted the teachers and teacher- educators to be more expressive and fearless.

A Souvenir which including the papers and the abstracts of the papers to be read in the Seminar by the resource persons and delegates released by the Chief Guest Dr. Kiran Bedi, Principal, Members of the management, the Resource persons, and other Dignateries. A- Copy of the Souvenir was distributed to all the delegates.

Various dignitaries and resource persons from different government owned, government aided /and privately managed colleges and institutions of Teacher Education of Jammu, Delhi, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab were present and participated by contributing their expert opinions on issues relating to the theme "Right to Education: Challenges and Opportunity" and other sub themes:-

The valedictory session was presided over by Dr.Rashmi Khurana, Programme Executive AIR Jalandhar .She expressed her happiness over the high quality papers presented in the seminar which were not only rich in content but also excellent in presentation. Mrs. Monica Mandotra, CEO, Chain of DIPS Institutions, extended a vote of thanks to all the guests and participants on behalf of the management.

National Conference

In the very first session of the college National Conference on the theme “Quality Teacher Education for Teacher Empowerment: Need of the Hour” was organized by DIPS College of Education, Dhilwan (Kapurthla), on Sunday, May 3, 2009. It was organized in collaboration with Council for Teacher Education a National Professional organization of Teacher Educators. Dr. Satinder Dhillon Vice President CTE –Northern region and Principal, Divya Shiksha Gurukul College of Education Dera Bassi Chandigarh, was the chief guest.

 

The Keynote address was delivered by Prof. K.K.Sharma Formerly Pro-vice chancellor Nagaland University Shillong Meghalaya and visiting Professor, Centre for Aurobindo studies Sohan Lal DAV College of Education (IASE), Ambala, Haryana. Dr. D.R. Vij President CTE Punjab Chapter, Dr. Amit Kauts Dean Faculty of Education Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar and Principal MGN College of Education Jalandhar, Mr. S.P. Khanna Secretary CTE-Punjab and Haryana Chapter, Dr. Arun Gupta Director Model Institute of Education and Research Jammu, Dr. Renu Gupta Principal Model Institute of Education and Research Jammu were the resource persons .

 

Various other dignitaries and resource persons from different government owned government aided and privately managed colleges and institutions of Teacher Education of Jammu , Chandigarh, Delhi, Haryana , Himachal and Punjab , were present and participated by contributing there expert opinions on issues relating to the theme.  More Than 15 Principals of Colleges of Education and Schools more than 65 delegates from four states namely, Punjab, Jammu, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and one union territory attended the conference.

A Souvenir was released which included the abstracts of the papers to be read in the Conference by the resources persons, members of the management, Principals and other dignitaries.
